Great performances abound

The glorious performances at the 2010 Olympics are inspiring all spectators across our great country. I think these events are particularly meaningful for those of us considered by most to be 'average' athletes.....once you know what it takes to add regular, vigourous exercise into your life; once you understand the commitment and perseverance required to improve your fitness thus enhancing your lifelong well being; well, it's hard not to admire and completely appreciate the efforts of the Olympians.

Last night I was truly inspired by the 'average' athletes that are a part of my current running group. There was nothing average about the commitment they each demonstrated just by showing up in such great Canadian winter weather. Nothing more inspirational to me than being greeted by a full and eager bunch - all bundled up for extreme weather and ready to go in the dark, not one complaining about what we were doing out there. We all knew what we were doing.....giving our minds and our bodies what they need to thrive - no matter what the conditions, and I couldn't have been prouder....you all deserve a gold medal in my mind! Thank you.
